Waco has been my home my whole life and I'm excited to host you in any of our vacation homes! I'm a wife and mother and take great care of my houses to make sure people feel comfortable and welcome. I enjoy the occasional design and decor projects for clients and value hospitality as a tenant of my faith and Southern culture.
Welcome to Midheaven Airbnb in Gatesville, Texas! My sister, Bree and I took on a remote vacation home update for a client who wanted her family home to double as a family retreat and a vacation home to pay its own expenses. My client wait list was long when this job came to us, and I didn’t have the bandwidth to get this project done by the time the owner wanted it ready, so Bree took the lead and I was support.
This unique home was our client’s late mother’s house. Her mother used to have large parties, weekend events with up to 30 people sleeping over sometimes. It was epic. People still tell stories and talk about how much they loved this home and all the memories they shared here.
To me, this house looked like it should have been in a 70s Architectural Digest magazine issue. Sleek, sophisticated, towering over garden views, giant picture windows, and original interior features, it is an exceptional property and home.
—-The challenge with this house was the owner’s request to use as many pieces of original furniture as possible, which was mostly larger pieces and art created by her Mom. They were beautiful but not easily a seamless continuous design with what was available to us.
Our puzzle was that we had to determine a style that fit with 70s blonde wood and dark original cabinets, the owner’s renovation choices, and what is being sold in stores on the budget we needed to stay within. Give us a blank slate and we can make pure magic. We can still make magic with existing design, but it is not as integrated or seamless. If you ever want to hire a designer, just do it. Don’t buy anything or change anything without them. Get them involved as early as possible!

Let’s go!
The painted tree was original to the home’s initial design. This was an element we were asked to work with. The photographer didn’t capture the other side of the room which tied it all together. What you cannot see is the dresser, mirror, full bench and ledge above all with decor and art that pulled this room together. The AC closet behind this door as well as the vent were just par for the course of this room as well. Nevertheless, this bed is super comfortable, the views are outstanding, and it has this fun swinging chair to relax in.
I do prefer to hire my own photographer. I like to be there and prepare the house for picture day, make sure pillows are fluffed and centered, blankets are exact, and props are added; otherwise, purple soaps and turquoise vases appear. It is not that big of a deal because a viewer wouldn’t know any different, but for Bree and I who pour sweat and blood into designs, we notice.
Our goal was to have 3 beds with heads at the windows because the owner has 3 kids, but when we added the beds they extended from wall to door (where the photographer is standing). We had to downsize and make this a 2 twin room, but it did turn out super cute.
The deer art, we tasked our Mom to rough paint the outside canvas edges to bleed onto the front like a frame. Those turned out great as well.
Midheaven is a unique property has a hot tub, fire pit, seating, and a creek. There is so much to do here, you could host a wedding, family reunion, girls weekend, birthday event, all kinds of things. For people who want to unplug and getaway, this place is ideal. It is also a short drive to Waco, under an hour, and a very fast commute.
